PRE-REGISTERED WORKSHOPS

When registering, it is important that you indicate your second choices. Some teachers will come only for a minimum of students. Should your first choice be cancelled for lack of enrollment, we will do our best to give you your second choice.

Workshop registration deadline: SEPTEMBER 29, 2012. After deadline, contact Linda Gearhart (636) 296-2079 (e-mail: llgear@sbcglobal.net) for class availability. Confirmation of registration for classes and supplies needed for class will be sent by OCTOBER 6, 2012.

Lunch will be available at the hotel restaurant and not in connection with the classes.

FRIDAY DINNER/AUCTION:  Join us for the dinner/silent auction.  Your dinner price includes your admission to the sales room for both Saturday and Sunday.  There will be drawings awarding gift certificates and other surprises.  Everyone attending receives a special gift for attending.  Choose an entree of chicken or pork.  If you have special dietary needs, please contact Linda Gearhart (636) 296-2079 (e-mail:  llgear@sbcglobal.net).  Cocktails at 6:15 p.m., dinner served at 7:00 p.m.  Dinner for a museum member is $35.00 and $37.00 for a non-member.

If you are planning to stay at the hotel , to get the special rate of $85.00 single or double you must register no later than SEPTEMBER 12, 2012 AND be sure to mention THE GATEWAY MINIATURE FAIR when you make your reservation.  For reservations, call 1-314-434-0100.

If you are flying in and need transportation to the hotel, there is a shuttle available.  Arrangements must be made with the hotel two days in advance.  

The ballroom rental fee is dependent on the number of sleeping rooms rented.  In order for the museum to get credit for YOUR room rental, make sure you tell the hotel you are coming to the Gateway Miniature Fair.  We appreciate your help by staying at the hotel to help in our fund-raising efforts for the Miniature Museum of Greater St. Louis.

Directions:  Take Page East from 270, turn right at Lackland exit.  Going West on Page toward 270, turn left on Schultz.  Turn right on Lackland.  Lackland turns South and changes to Craigshire Rd.  Hotel is on the right.

6. 1" SCALE BATHROOM FURNISHINGS. Students will make an etagere and fill it with 6 fluffy white towels, toilet paper, basket of soaps, tissue, paper basket of hand towels, hair dryer and a can of hair spray, box of cotton puffs, cosmetic tray and a rubber ducky. Choice of round, oval or rectangular waste can and hamper, and square or round scale. Colors choices are pink, black, tan, or white.

KATE HRUBAN/KATE'S MINIATURES COST: $36.00

7. 1" SCALE ELEGANT PURSES. In this class, students will learn how to plan, make patterns and create elegant and creative evening bags! They will be crafted from various snippets of velvet, brocade, satin, metallics, leather, and fabrics. Patterns will be cut out, used, and then kept to take home for furture use. Students will then learn how to bead, fringe, and decorate the various types of purses. A total of five assorted items will be made.

8. ORNAMENT WITH DOLL.

9. WINTER SCENE IN A SMALL MATCHBOX. Students make a winter scene of a brick house with decorated door inside a matchbox 2" x 1-1/4." There will be a snowman and a tree in a snowy yard.

10. 1/4" SPOOK SHACK IN A PUMPKIN. Students will make a spooky old farm house inside a "funkin pumpkin" complete with ghosts, landscaping and a pumpkin patch.

13. 1" SCALE MAKE A ROOM IN A "MERRY CHERRY" GIFT BAG. Students will measure, cut foam core and assemble a room to fit inside a red & white plaid gift bag with cherries scattered on the bag. Room will be finished with Mary Englebreit cherry wallpaper and a black and white checked floor. Finished room size is 12" tall, 10" wide, and 5" deep. Plexiglass top and front included. Students will add their own furniture and accessories to complete the scene.

FAY ZERBOLIO COST: $36.00

14. USING LEDs TO LIGHT MINIATURES.   Compared to Standard 12 VBAC incandescent lights, LEDs use lots less power, generate almost no heat, and if correctly installed, burn much longer.  However, LEDs require DC power where polarity (+vs-) is critical and require a current-limiting resistor.  The class will learn how to set up and wire LEDs, some suggestions for mounting, and how to incorporate them into existing 12 VAC systems using either diodes or AC to DC converting bridges.  Sources for all parts and supplies will also be distributed.  Soldering iron is not needed for students, though teacher will use one for demonstration.
