Compared to Standard 12 VBAC incandescent lights, LEDs use lots less
power, generate almost no heat, and if correctly installed, burn much
longer. However, LEDs require DC power where polarity (+vs-) is
critical and require a current-limiting resistor. The class will
learn how to set up and wire LEDs, some suggestions for mounting, and
how to incorporate them into existing 12 VAC systems using either diodes
or AC to DC converting bridges. Sources for all parts and supplies
will also be distributed. Soldering iron is not needed for
students, though teacher will use one for demonstration.
