Tickets will be available at the museum and at the show.  The winning tickets will be drawn on Sunday afternoon.  You do not have to be present to win.  Tickets are $1 each or 6 for $5.  Be sure to put your name and address on the ticket stub and place in the appropriate container.  You have to be local to this area to win this gift since we cannot ship this house.

PRE-REGISTERED WORKSHOPS

When registering, it is important that you indicate your second choices. Some teachers will come only for a minimum of students. Should your first choice be cancelled for lack of enrollment, we will do our best to give you your second choice.

Workshop registration deadline: SEPTEMBER 29, 2008. After deadline, contact Linda Gearhart (636) 296-2079 (e-mail: llgear@sbcglobal.net) for class availability. Confirmation of registration for classes and supplies needed for class will be sent by OCTOBER 1, 2008.

Lunch will be available at the hotel restaurant and not in connection with the classes.

FRIDAY DINNER/AUCTION:  Join us for the dinner/silent auction.  Your dinner price includes your admission to the sales room for both Saturday and Sunday.  There will be drawings awarding gift certificates and other surprises.  Everyone attending receives a special gift for attending.  Choose an entree of chicken or pork.  If you have special dietary needs, please contact Linda Gearhart (636) 296-2079 (e-mail:  llgear@sbcglobal.net).  Cocktails at 6:15 p.m., dinner served at 7:00 p.m.  Dinner for a museum member is $28.00 and $30.00 for a non-member.  We will be having a Halloween party, so be sure to wear a costume or a special mask at the dinner, although this is optional.  

Please go to the  Workshop Registration Form to print out a form, complete, and send by US Postal Service to the person indicated on the form.  Sorry--we do not have online submission at this time.

If you are flying in and need transportation to the hotel, there is a shuttle available for a fee.  Arrangements must be made with the hotel two days in advance.  

The ballroom rental fee is dependent on the number of sleeping rooms rented.  In order for the museum to get credit for YOUR room rental, make sure you tell the hotel you are coming to the Gateway Miniature Fair.  We appreciate your help by staying at the hotel to help in our fund-raising efforts for the Miniature Museum of Greater St. Louis.

Directions: Highway I-40/64*, Exit 19A NORTH to Chesterfield Parkway.  Turn RIGHT.  First light is Swingley Ridge Road, Turn LEFT (West) to Hotel.

Remember I-40/64 is closed East of I-270 from Ballas Rd. to I-170.  Make sure to use another route.

Bobbin lace class for the beginner and advanced lacer. Serve your breakfast in style and create a bobbin lace mat to fit the supplied tray. Students will take home their completed project. The beginner's price includes a bobbin lace pillow, the pattern, bobbins needed, thread, pins, and kit for the breakfast tray. And, of course, detailed instructions. The advanced student's price includes the pattern, the breakfast tray kit, instructions, as well as accessories. Please bring bobbins with you and Madeira Cotona 80 thread of your color choice. Additional bobbins can be borrowed in class if needed.

2. PROFESSIONAL-LOOKING WINDOW TREATMENTS IN MINIATURE.

Students will learn to make drapery panels that eliminate the flyaway look. They will make samples of valances representing period and contemporary styles. They will also make tassels and braid to use as decorative touches. Pinning boards, fabric and other materials will be supplied by the instructor.

3. 1" SCALE TRAY WITH PERFUME & MAKEUP BOTTLES.

JANE JACOBS COST: $20.00

Students will learn to make perfume and makeup bottles using fancy beads. They will also make hatpins and place in a container. These items will then be placed either on a large tray or on two small trays (gold or silver) Students can bring items to be added to the tray if desired (e.g., mirror, comb, or decorative item). If they bring a tiny picture, teacher will have golden oval paper frame students can use to complete their tray.  Pictures are samples.

4. MAKE A 1" SCALE AMARYLLIS.

Students will learn to construct a four-bloom Amaryllis and bud. They will then "plant" the flower in a pot.

5. 1/4" SCALE VERANDA BREAKFAST.

Students will make faux wicker chairs and a table with a glass top. They will then put breakfast foods on the table. A potted hyacinth will also be included to make.

Students will decorate a tea cup. They will construct a room setting in 1/4" scale with a table and chairs. They will also make small accessories (flowers, plates, teacups, etc.).

Students will use polymer clay to form peaches. A fuzzy skin will be added to make them look realistic. Peaches can be used to make desserts and pies, if desired. Or, you can place them in a basket or bowl.

INSTRUCTOR: FAY ZERBOLIO COST: $36.00

Students will measure, cut foam core and assemble a room to fit inside a yellow gingham giftbag with a cherry and ribbon border. Room will be finished with yellow gingham wallpaper and a paper wood floor. A wallpaper border to match the bag will be added to the top of the room. Finished room size is 8-1/2" tall, 12-1/2" wide, and 4-1/2" deep. Plexiglass top and front included. Students can add their own furniture and accessories to complete the scene. A white hutch, a white dry sink, a white half-round table and 2 white chairs with red-checked cushions will be available for purchase for an additional $30 the day of the class.

15. "GET WIRED." 

INSTRUCTOR: JOE ZERBOLIO
COST:  $36.00

Students will learn how to layout and solder, and connect low voltage (12 volts) circuits for miniature projects which can be composed of round wire or foil in any combination. In addition, students will build a continuity tester and learn how to use it to troubleshoot and repair circuits. The meaning and relationship between Voltage and Power and how it affects lighting and other miniature use will be demonstrated. Tricks for increasing bulb life will be shown. Students are encouraged to bring ANY wiring or electrical problems to class for discussion and solution as time permits.
